UPDATE: CLICK HERE FOR THE LIST OF ACHIEVEMENTS
With the recent release of the Game Informer article, I thought it would be a great idea to give the latest scoop on this up and coming game, Modern Warfare 2. This highly anticipated game will be released on Nov 10 later this year. I hope this article will give you a better idea of what this game is about and get you 'hypes' for its arrival.
Firstly some background information. In the previous Modern Warfare you played most of the game as Soap a newb in the tactical field. However now he is a veteran of the 141 squad in which you are a member. He is the leader of the squadron and will boss you around for most of the game. The story also continues from the last game, after the death of Zakhaev, a new leader Makarov has taken his place. Makarov has used the death of the countries former leader to his advantage to make his political standing stronger. During the game you are working to take out Makarov and save Russia from another evil dictator who is trying to start a global war.
Now onto the campaign. The CoD franchise is known for its solid campaign mode but better online service. Maybe this time, it will be the other way round. The campaign for this game looks awesome and it is split up into three different sections. Firstly the snow section which is the most known. During this there are awesome fights in blizzards and of course the infamous snow mobiles, which we have heard so much about. However, nothing has been said about the ability to drive, but we can only hope. During this campaign the CoD team worked on making it as personal and realistic as possible, with you climbing up the side of mountains one ice pick at a time so as to flank the enemies.
Secondly is the Afghan section of the Campaign. During this many new things have been added to raise the realism of the game. Now civilians roam the streets and it is not always easy to pick out the enemies from amongst the crowds. The maps on these levels are huge, so you can pick your route to your objective.
Finally, the best part of the campaign, the special forces section. These scenarios don’t fit in with the main story line, but are separate missions, sort of like the final mission in CoD 4 Mile High Club. These more random missions are the only ones in the campaign which can be played multiplayer co-op. These missions look a bit like Rainbow 6 Vegas to me, because you will use breaching charges and other awesome tools of war, to sneakily take out the enemies. There will be many ways to approach each of these scenarios, and some are made to be played multiplayer as you will need someone to watch your back to take on enemies.
Now onto multiplayer. Multiplayer has always been the main focus of the CoD franchise. However, there are not a great deal of details out about the multiplayer for this game. I think Infinity Ward want to keep some of their bigger details for a time nearer to the release so as to increase game sales and hype nearer to the games arrival. However on Infinity Wards twitter page, a game developer released these details which have not yet been confirmed.
I have split them into campaign and multiplayer info. Credit goes to zath.co.uk

There are many new features being implemented into the game, firstly there are civilians as previously stated above. However, there are many other things as well. Moveable turrets, breaching charges, thermal vision, and riot shields will be most likely available to use as well as vehicles and heartbeat sensors.
There is also a great deal of new game mechanics being added to the game to make it cleaner and more explosive than ever. Firstly many will be glad to know, that they are trying to take out infinite re-spawning. This will come as a relief to all those who love playing veteran, and know how frustrating it can be. Another thing the game makers team has done is make the game more open, Now there are many ways to approach the situation at hand, weather it is your style to be stealthy or intrusive. The explosions are more realistic in this up and coming game also, with the game staying at a steady frame rate of 60 frames per second, even when many dozens of concurrent explosions. Infinity Ward has also made it so that they can change the game subtly online without disrupting gameplay. This means that they can make the game better and better when they get more feedback from people after the game has been released.
There is no doubt that this will be a good game when it arrives in stores later this year. However, it will probably be the most anticipated game of the modern times, making anything less than perfect unacceptable. Lets hope Infinity Ward can live up to the high standards and produce the best game of all time.
